Community Cares is a day of service that is an extension of our worship service to go and focus on caring for our community.  We will be doing a number of different events this year.  Read over what may interest you and then follow the link for signup for a single event.  We will email you with more info closer to the event on any additional information.

Events that you can participate in serving...

Refugee Picnic

Refugee Picnic - We have a growing number of Congolese refugees attending our church and we would love to show our appreciation of them by holding a picnic at a park for them and inviting community members and host families to attend.  We will need assistance with setup, serving and tear down along with transportation.

Back to School BBQ/Give away School Supplies at Chief Charlo

Join us at this fun event for families as we celebrate the start of a new school year with a free BBQ for the neighborhood on the Chief Charlo playground, that includes carnival games, a bounce house and doorprizes!  We will need volunteers to help with serving food, helping with games, handing out school supplies and prizes.

MAC will be working on several yardwork projects for community cares, including mowing, weeding, removing unwanted bushes, cleaning up trash and wood and general yard cleanup. Clean up projects will be in the South Hills area including the home of a foster family, as well as an elderly neighbor.

Visit with Neighbors at Grandview Apartments and Give out Basic Household Supplies

We will spend the morning visiting with our neighbors up the hill at Grandview Apartments.  We will also help them choose and transport basic household supplies to their apartment. We will have a table set up in the parking lot with items they can choose from. Volunteers will be needed to help setup and carry the supplies to the residents, as well and visit with them and invite them to the BBQ at Chief Charlo!

Car Wash at Child and Family Services

Join us as we bless CFS staff by washing the outside and cleaning the inside of the cars that they use to transport kids every day.  These cars get used when children get transported from the hospital, shelter, police station or their homes, and there is no budget to clean them and they are highly used. Several of the  CFS staff may join us to help wash cars!

Donuts and Hymn Sing at Burlington Square Apts

Help us bless this group of seniors in our city with an intentional time of visiting and singing.  A group of volunteers from MAC will lead the sing-a-long. We will need extra volunteers to help set up the donuts and coffee and to come and sing! We pray God will use this time to encourage this group who may not otherwise be able to get out and enjoy fellowship and music.
