I've been working on my cedar-strip canoe since October of 2009. It's been several months of steady work. Of the approximately 80 strips that have to go on the boat, I have about 60 on there so far. A canoe builder wrote an article about the canoe I am building. He said, "When you get all the strips on the boat, sit down in your easy chair and pat yourself on the back. You are now 1/3 of the way through the project." 1/3? You've got be kidding me! I can see the whole boat right in front of me and yet I still have 2/3 of the way to go.
I'm learning it is that way with many things in life. Right when we are ready to be done with what we are currently going through, we learn there is still a ways to go. What is encouraging is the truth that the same Scripture that carried you through 1/3 will carry you another 2/3. Psalm 63:7-8 - "Because You are my help, I sing in the shadow of Your wings. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me."
